Emery - 9 Months

Emery is NINE months old and is the sweetest thing.
I took his measurements this month.  His doctor said he's doing so well not to worry about his nine month well baby checkup.  Unless I have a concern of course.  So, here's what I got:
Weight: 21.2 lbs
 Head: 18 inches
Height: 27 inches
Which means he's an inch shorter then when he was 6 months old.  When the nurse measured him last time I thought she did it wrong.  There's a little empty space at the end of their measuring tape and it didn't look like she took that into account.  Then there's me trying to measure him with only Eloise to help.  Needless to say neither one cared too much about getting an accurate measurement.
Emery is such an active boy.  He is on the go constantly.  This little guy crawls so fast now.  Watching his little knees move so fast is so, so cute.  When he gets going so fast he'll use a foot here and there instead of his knees.  He's even figured out it's better to crawl on his hands and feet on the concrete.

We put Emery into a convertible car seat.  He is much more content in the car now.  No to mention that infant car seat was getting heavy!
He is still a big time foodie.  He will try anything and usually keeps on eating it.  There's not much he won't eat.  If he sees a cup he wants to drink out of it.  No matter who has it he tries to take it.

He now has four teeth.  His two top front teeth came in together.  You can see one peeking through in the picture below.

Emery has separation anxiety with just about everyone who walks by him.  If someone passes him without saying hi or giving him love it breaks his little heart.  He'll cry and crawl after them.

This boy has some seriously curly hair.  I LOVE IT!
He has gotten really good at this standing thing.  He can get to his feet from a squat without holding onto anything.  He's gotten really good about sinking to the floor instead of falling or dropping hard to the floor too.

Emery has taken one step at two different times.  He could do more if he would try.  He realizes his foot has left the floor and he sinks to the floor.  The last time he took a step he almost got that other foot to follow but not quite.  Glen said I couldn't count it as a step.  I guess it was more of a shuffle.

I call Emery my little motorboat.  He is constantly blowing raspberries.

He still squeals a ton and grunts a lot.  I'm ready to hear more consonant and vowel sounds come out of that mouth.  When I try to encourage him to say mama he just laughs at me.
Emery hates to have his face wiped.  He jerks that head and cries the saddest cry.

He can open the cabinets now.  I really need to get more child locks for them.  He loves to pull everything out once he's gotten into them.  A fun mess to make for mommy to clean.  Eloise likes to join him in this mess making.  They are cute making music with the pots and pans together.

He loves to play peek-a-boo, ride-a-horse, pat-a-cake, pretty much anything with an -a- in it.  He really thinks it's hilarious to play peek-a-boo when I'm the shower.  The water splashing him doesn't bother him a bit.

Emery is my little drummer boy.  He loves to bang on any and everything.  Eloise likes to join in on his jam sessions.  That only makes him bang harder.

We moved Emery into the kid's room with Eloise.  I first had them in there together.  It went well the first night, not so much the second.  I took the advise of a good friend and now Eloise is in the pack-n-play in our room till Emery gets the hang of sleeping through the night.  He has slept through the night twice now.  Those two nights have felt just as glorious as I thought they would.  Sleep is a wonderful thing!

Speaking of sleeping he does not sleep well unless he's in his bed.  It's a good and bad thing.  He rarely fights going to sleep at home but when we're out he just can't go to sleep.  Sundays are the worst.  Church starts at 10am - his usual nap time.  We struggle to get him to sleep.  When he finally does he only sleeps for maybe 10 minutes.
Emery is enjoying the pool already.  We've been hanging out on the steps.  He splashes and tries to crawl - the water is a little too deep for that but he keeps trying.  We play at the splash park too but he doesn't seem to like it as much as Eloise does.  I'm thinking by the end of summer he'll be loving it!

He's started dancing.  He and Eloise play his rocktivity table a lot.  When a song starts up she'll go to dancing around the table and Emery starts bouncing (and squealing) till the song is over.  They are so cute together.
Emery is such a joy to be with.  I love watching him play. When he catches me watching he gets the biggest smile on his face and makes his way to me.  It makes my heart swell to know he's as happy to see me as I am to see him.  I love being his mom.

  1. Such a sweet 9 months report on our "Little Man". The pictures are so sweet. He is such a photographic kid! I sure miss him. 2 weeks spoiled me. That's funny that the kids kinda switched sleeping places. I'm glad he likes his new bed. Love you guys! Mom
