Emery - 1 Year

Emery Rigdon is ONE year old!  It's so amazing how much this little guy has learned in the past 12 months.
12 month stats:
Length: 30.25 inches - 63%
Weight: 22.7 pounds - 48%
Head: 18.5 inches - 67%

He is a toddler.  Long gone are his crawling days.  He's realized he cannot walk on or through everything and anything.  It so cute watching him side step around things.  Gosh they learn so fast!

Emery whistles all the time.  When he doesn't have his passy in his mouth, he keeps his mouth in an O and blows in and out.  He loves to cry with his mouth that way too.  We hear lots of whoo whoo whooos.
He is finally stopping when I tell him no.  He doesn't like it, throws himself on the floor a lot, but he stops what he's doing.  If only for a moment.

This boy loves to open dvd cases.  He is contently opening them and pull the dvd out.  Because of this new found trick he doesn't pull then all off the shelf anymore, but grabs one or two to open.  It's a give and take I guess.
He still loves to eat.  He eats his meal and cleans Eloise's plate too.  Somethings he wont eat unless it's on his tray and he's feeding himself.  Like grapes.  I'll cut them up for him with his meal sometimes.  He gobbles them up. If I give him part of one I'm eating he makes a face and spits it out.  I don't get it!

Emery loves to brush his teeth.

He thinks it hilarious when he sneezes.
When I get ready in the morning he has to sit on the counter with me.  He goes through my make up, brushes his teeth, tries to spray my hairspray.  I love seeing his tiny teeth marks on the tube of toothpaste.

Emery's hair is getting thicker and curlier everyday.  Everywhere we go we get compliments on his hair.
I think he's said his first word though I don't want to acknowledge it. "Ralph". He loves Wreck It Ralph. Lately when I turn it on for them he gives the same "rah" sound over and over again while smiling his best smile at the movie. I think "mom" would be a much better first word!

I almost think he tries to say "I'm gonna wreck it!"  When I build his towers I do the muscle arms and say I'm gonna wreck it like Ralph does in the movie.  Emery will come over flapping his arms and say "ah woo woo" as he knocks the tower down.
He loves his stacking cups. Knocking over towers is one of his favorite things to do with them. Lately he's been trying to build the tower himself. He also likes to put the cups inside each other and pull them out again. He still needs help from mommy to get the order right.

Emery still loves everything electronic. If he sees a remote he does everything in his power to get it. He's started pointing it at the tv and pressing buttons. He is constantly turning the TV and daddy's PS3 on and off.
He also loves our phones and iPad. He pushes the button to turn them on and tries his hardest to swipe his finger in the right place to open them. Once they are open he goes to swiping through the screens. He especially likes when he gets to the search screen and goes to typing random letters in the search box.  He has called random people by doing this so I now keep a closer eye on him when he has my phone.

Emery has started pinching the back of my arm when I hold him.
Eloise likes Emery to join in on her tea parties now. He usually wrecks it but here and there he'll pretend to drink out of his cup. He even makes a fake slurping sound.

Emery likes to tickle Glen.  When Glen picks him up Emery will attack Glen's chest with his tiny fingers.  Of course Emery is laughing so hard as if he's the one being tickled.  It's the sweetest thing seeing him so in love with his Daddy.
This has been one exciting and challenging year for us all.  I love this little guy so much.  I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for this him!
